Tag Types
Tags are the interactive fields that recipients complete during signing. Propper Sign supports a range of tag types, from signatures and initials to auto-filled information and calculated values.

Tag Descriptions
Signature, Captures a legally binding signature. Recipients can draw, type, or upload an image of their signature. Always pair this with an Auto-fill: Date tag directly below so the signing date is captured automatically.
Initial, Captures initials rather than a full signature. Use this on specific pages or beside individual clauses where you want explicit per-item acknowledgment.
Text, A free-form text field. Use this to collect names, addresses, job titles, or any other written information. You can add placeholder text as a hint and set a character limit.
Number, Accepts numeric input only. Use this for amounts, quantities, IDs, or any field where only numbers make sense.
Date, A date picker where the recipient selects a calendar date. Use this when the recipient needs to enter a specific date, like a start date or contract date. For the date the recipient actually signs, use Auto-fill: Date instead.
Checkbox, A single checkbox the recipient checks or leaves unchecked. Use this for acknowledgments, opt-ins, or yes/no questions.
Radio, A group of options where the recipient picks exactly one. Use this when you have 2–5 mutually exclusive choices that should all be visible at once.
Dropdown, A list of options presented as a menu. Use this for longer lists (6 or more options) where showing all choices at once would take too much space.
Attachment, Lets the recipient upload a file as part of signing. Use this when you need supporting documents, ID copies, evidence, or other files, alongside the signature.
Auto-fill: Date, Automatically fills in the date the recipient signs. No input required. This is the standard way to capture the signing date.
Auto-fill: Name / Email / Title / Company, Automatically fills in the recipient's information from their profile. No input required. Use these in signature blocks to avoid asking recipients to type what Propper already knows.
Formula, Displays a calculated value based on other number fields in the document, for example, a line total or grand total that updates as recipients fill in quantities and prices. → See Formula Tags.
Required vs. Optional
Every tag can be marked required or optional. Recipients can't complete their signing step until all required tags are filled in. Optional tags can be left blank.
