Use Propper in Claude

Use Propper from a Claude conversation to prepare agreements, generate documents from templates, send them for signature, and check who still needs to sign.

There are two parts to the integration:

  • The MCP server connects Claude to your Propper account. Its tools read and update your agreements under the permissions you authorize.
  • The skills give Claude instructions for complete workflows: checking a contract, preparing recipients and fields, reviewing a draft, and tracking the result. The Propper plugin bundles these skills with the MCP connection configuration.

Choose your setup

Where you workStart here
Claude on the web or Claude Desktop chatConnect the MCP server, then enable Propper in your conversation.
Claude CoworkInstall the Propper plugin for skills and the MCP connection.
Claude CodeSet up the plugin or an MCP-only connection.
A Claude Team or Enterprise organizationAdd the connector for members and distribute the plugin. Members authorize their own Propper access.

You can use the MCP tools without installing skills. You can also use skills to check local documents before connecting a Propper account. Installing skills alone does not grant access to Propper.

Connect on the web

On claude.ai, open Customize → Connectors and choose Add. Enter Propper and https://mcp.propper.ai/mcp, then choose Continue and complete the sign-in setup.

The MCP setup guide shows the actual URL form and connected state. If your team already has Propper configured, open that connector and connect your own account.

What you need

Connected workflows require a Propper account in an active organization with API access and permission to perform the requested actions. API access is included on Business plans; see current pricing. Your Claude subscription and usage are separate.

Generation workflows also require Propper Gen access. Locker document questions require access to Locker AI, which is in private beta. Ask your Propper administrator if a product is unavailable in your organization.

For Claude availability and organization policies, see Anthropic's connector guide and plugin guide.

Try your first workflow

After connecting, start with a read-only check:

Show me which Propper organization I am connected to, then list my recent agreements and their status.

With the skills installed, give Claude a document and ask:

Check this agreement for blanks, inconsistent company names, missing exhibits, and date mistakes. Show the page and exact text for each finding.

Then prepare a draft:

Prepare this NDA for Jordan Lee, followed by Casey Morgan. Ask me for their email addresses, add signature and date fields for both, and show me the draft before sending.

Review the document, recipient names and emails, field placement, and signing order before approving the send. Afterwards, ask:

Show me who has signed, whose turn is next, and which agreements are still waiting.

The tools report signing progress; they do not apply anyone's signature or send reminder emails. Use the Propper app to manage reminders.

Permissions and approvals

Sign in through the browser and approve the requested OAuth permissions. You do not need to paste passwords, API keys, or access tokens into a conversation. The MCP guide explains the scopes for reading, editing, sending, and cancelling agreements.

Keep tool approvals enabled for actions that change Propper data. The skills instruct Claude to request explicit confirmation before sending, voiding, or deleting an agreement; review the proposed action each time. Skills are workflow instructions, not an additional access-control boundary.
