Locker Permissions
Locker has three access levels that control what a team member can do. Access is assigned through roles, it cannot be granted individually to a single user for a single document.

Access Levels
| Access level | What it allows |
|---|---|
| View access | View, read, and download any document in the repository |
| Upload access | Everything in view access, plus: upload documents, add and edit tags, metadata, and categories |
| Admin access | Everything in upload access, plus: delete documents, manage retention policies, and place or remove legal holds |
Access levels build on each other, upload access includes everything view access allows, and admin access includes everything both levels allow.
Permissions are assigned via roles. See Roles for which role gives which access level, and Sharing for how to give a teammate access.
Plan-Gated Features
Your access level controls what you can do, but some Locker sections are only available on plans that include them. A team member may have the right access level but still not see a section if it isn't part of your plan.
| Section | What it includes |
|---|---|
| Search | Full-text content search and filter-based browsing |
| Obligations | Deadline tracking and the Obligations dashboard |
| AI Search | Plain-language questions answered from document content |
| AI Chat | Conversational querying of your document library |
| Settings | Locker configuration options |
These are set at the organization level by your plan, not per user. If a section is missing from your navigation, contact your account team.
Troubleshooting Access
Locker doesn't appear in the navigation. Your organization's plan may not include Locker. Contact your account team.
A team member can view documents but can't upload. Their role only includes view access. Your organization admin can update their role from Organization → Members. See Roles.
A team member can't see the Obligations or Search section. Those sections require a plan that includes them. Contact your account team if you believe they should be visible.
