Content Settings

Content Settings control what users must do before they can accept an agreement. They are configured in the Content tab of your template, under the Acknowledgment section.

The right combination depends on the type of agreement and how much weight you want to put on the act of acceptance.

Require Checkbox

When enabled, a checkbox appears below the agreement text. The Accept button stays inactive until the user checks it.

Set the Checkbox Label to a clear, affirmative statement — for example, "I have read and agree to the Terms of Service." This label is stored in the acceptance record, so specific wording matters. Consult your legal team on the exact phrasing required for your jurisdiction.

Require Scroll to Bottom

When enabled, the Accept button stays inactive until the user has scrolled through the full content.

Use this for agreements where the user reading the terms strengthens the acceptance record — Terms of Service, NDAs, and privacy policies where thoroughness matters.

Show Confirmation Dialog

When enabled, clicking Accept opens a second prompt asking the user to confirm before the acceptance is recorded.

Use this for high-stakes agreements — legal waivers, NDAs — where an extra step reduces the risk of accidental acceptance.

Show Timestamp

When enabled, the date and time of acceptance is displayed to the user at the moment they accept.

Useful when transparency about when consent was given matters to users — common in GDPR-aligned flows.

Evidence Retention

You can control how long acceptance records from this template are kept before they are automatically removed.

Go to SettingsCompliance on the template to set the retention period. The default is 7 years (2,555 days). If different agreements in your organization have different retention requirements — for example, financial contracts vs. marketing consent — set this at the template level rather than relying on the organization default.

See Data Retention for more details.
