Completion certificate
When an agreement reaches a completed state, Propper Sign automatically generates an Agreement Completion Audit — a PDF certificate that documents every aspect of the signing process. The certificate is designed to serve as court-admissible evidence of execution.

What the certificate contains
Agreement details
- Agreement ID and subject line
- Completion status and completion timestamp
- Document count and page count
- Timezone applied to all timestamps in the record
Sender information
- Name, email address, and organization
- IP address at the time of sending
- Postal address (if provided in the account profile)
Per-signer record
Each signer in the agreement has their own section in the certificate covering:
| Section | Details |
|---|---|
| Identity | Name, email address, and role |
| Authentication | Method used (email verification or access code) and verification result |
| Location | IP address at time of signing; optional city and region from IP geolocation |
| Signature | Type (drawn, typed, or uploaded) and timestamp |
| Timeline | Sent, viewed, and signed timestamps |
| Consent | Electronic signature disclosure acceptance, with timestamp |
Security and integrity section
- Document hashes — SHA-256 hash for each individual document
- Package hash — Combined SHA-256 hash of the entire agreement package
- Digital signature — A cryptographic seal applied to the completed certificate. Any modification to the PDF after signing invalidates the seal, making tampering visible in PDF readers such as Adobe Acrobat.
- Completion timestamp — Certified time of final execution
Open the certificate in Adobe Acrobat to verify the digital signature. A valid signature confirms the document has not been altered since it was generated.
Record tracking section
- Record type — Original (not a copy)
- Holder — Propper Evidence Vault
- Generated — Timestamp of certificate creation
Event timeline
A chronological log of every significant action in the agreement lifecycle. Each entry includes:
- Action type (sent, delivered, viewed, authenticated, signed, finalized)
- Timestamp in UTC with timezone offset
- IP address of the actor
- Actor name or identifier

Legal value
The completion certificate provides documented evidence for:
- Contract enforcement and dispute resolution
- Regulatory compliance audits (ESIGN, UETA, eIDAS)
- Financial and legal record-keeping
- Litigation support
While Propper retains audit records, keeping your own copies of completion certificates alongside the signed agreements ensures you have access for legal proceedings regardless of service availability.
