Adding Tags
Tags are the fields that recipients interact with when they sign, where they put their signature, type their name, check a box, pick a date, and so on. You place them on the document in the template editor by dragging them into position.
Placing a Tag
Drag and drop:
- Choose a tag type from the left panel.
- Drag it onto the document and drop it where you want it.
- With the tag selected, set Assigned To to the recipient who should complete it. → See Recipient Roles if you haven't set up roles yet.
Click to place (faster when adding several of the same type):
- Click the tag type in the left panel without dragging.
- Click the document where you want the tag placed.
- Click again to place another tag of the same type.
- Press Esc when done.
Moving and Resizing Tags
Click a tag to select it, then drag it to reposition. Drag the corners or edges to resize.
To work with several tags at once:
- Shift + Click to add tags to your selection one at a time
- Click and drag on empty space to draw a box around a group of tags
With multiple tags selected, you can move, delete, or copy-paste them all at once.
Alignment Guides
When you drag a tag near another tag or the page edge, alignment guides appear automatically, lines that show when edges or centers line up. This helps you keep tags consistently positioned without measuring manually.
Tips for Good Tag Placement
- Signature blocks, Place the signature tag, then add a Date Signed (auto-fill) tag directly below it. The date fills in automatically when the recipient signs.
- Finalize document order before placing tags, If you're uploading multiple documents, arrange them first. Reordering documents after placing tags can shift positions and require you to re-check placement.
- Check every page, Before saving or sending, scroll through the full document to make sure every tag is where you expect it.
